The European tour starts

The World Championship enters its crucial European phase, with the GP in Portugal scheduled for this weekend, and Tony returns to the Continent with confidence and motivation sky high after his first win of the season.

Arbolino is ready to get on the rollercoaster ride of the Algarve International Circuit, for the fifth round of the 2022 season, aiming to continue his growth after the sensational victory earlier this month in the Grand Prix of the Americas.
Three top-six finishes in the first four races abroad have moved the 21-year-old up to third in the World Championship standings
, who is now aiming for another big haul of points in Portimao. 🇵🇹

The action will officially kick off from tomorrow with FP1 at 11:55am until the 23-lap race on Sunday at 3:30pm.

Inaugurated on November 2, 2008 by the Superbike, theAlgarve track is 4.6 kilometers long and presents a variation of curves and altimetry that is very interesting and fun for riders. There is a reason in fact if it is defined as a roller coaster track: it has curves of various radius, with thrilling gradients; the slope can reach 12% downhill and 6% uphill.

Fast corners are alternated with slow hairpins and the power of the engines will be less decisive than in Austin, except on the long pit straight.

The first part of the track is slower, with the hairpin bends of turn 3 and turn 5, then there is a series of bends between uphill and downhill that lead to the hairpin bend of turn 13, which anticipates the two right-hand bends that lead to the finish line. The chassis and a good compromise between speed and distance will be needed.

According to Brembo technicians, thiscircuit falls into the category ofcircuits that are moderately demanding on brakes. On a scale of 1 to 6 it deserves a difficulty index of 3. The three hardest brakingsections of the track are all inthe first 5 turns, even if at turn 13 the loss of speed, the space and the braking time are greater than at turn 3: however, the deceleration and the pressure of the Brembo braking fluid are lower.

The continuous ups and downs that characterize the track make itdifficult for drivers to calibrate their braking, with theriskof arrivinglongon the downhill or braking too early on the uphill. It is therefore essential to have an excellent brake master cylinder and to adjust it to one's needs.

One particularity of this Grand Prix, which must be taken into account, is thatthe MotoGP will have its race after the Moto3and before the Moto2. Therefore, check the asphalt conditions!

🎙Tony:
"It's great to race in Europe again, but now we need to work even harder to maintain this excellent start to the season. I feel ready and I know the team feels ready to take another positive step forward. I know that if we can improve where we want to, we will only be more competitive and this gives us a great opportunity to keep the momentum going. The win in Austin was a great feeling for everyone and now the goal is to continue our great performances and push to perform at a very high level."
