The conditions for the 23-lap Moto2 race, were quite punishing for the riders, who had to deal with track temperatures of a whopping 39 degrees!

Tony arbolino, from his third time on the front row since the start of the season, started today's race strongly and was involved in the fight for victory from the very first laps.

From lap eight onwards, the 21-year-old challenged Ai Ogura and Aron Canet in a three-way fight for the win. However, with two thirds of the race completed and with some discomfort in his right arm, Tony rode and managed with intelligence, coolness and grit, taking home third place and 16 crucial points.

The second podium of the year for the Italian is great for his championship challenge: as of today he is third overall with 70 points, 30 behind the leader.

Tony:

"Honestly, it was such a tough race. We had to adapt my riding style and I needed to understand the conditions.

Conditions that weren't so easy, in fact they were the hardest of the weekend. It was tough, but I'm so happy with the result!
Halfway through the race, I had to start managing, because I started to feel some pain in my right arm due to some arm-pump.
I just had to control it, but the feeling was there. Anyway, this is a great podium, so we have to be happy, especially because Jerez is a really hard track and to get a result here means a lot.

I want to thank the Team and everyone in the pit: they're doing an amazing job, they're working as hard as I am, they really believe in me, so I'm super proud!!!"
