From the South to North America this weekend to take on the unique challenge of Circuit of the Americas in Austin, the fourth round of this year's World Championship.

Tony Arbolino continues his fight for the World Championship title, this time facing the strong challenge of COTA 's demanding 20-turn, partially resurfaced layout this weekend.

Moto2 will kick off the action with a modified schedule this weekend, which will see FP1 start tomorrow at 9am local time, and Tony will battle for podium glory in the 18-lap race at 11:20am on Sunday.
Two top six finishes in the first three races of 2022 have given Arbolino a huge boost of confidence and belief that he can be on the lookout for his first Moto2 podium in Texas.

The Italian already boasts an impressive record at COTA and finished sixth in his first Moto2 ride at Austin last October ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The circuit

According to Brembo's technicians, who work closely with all the drivers, the Texas track falls into the category of moderately demanding circuits for the brakes: on a scale of 1 to 5 it deserved adifficulty index of 3.

The Austin track underwentextensive work in January, with the reinforcement of the ground and thelaying of new asphaltin thefirstandthird sectors. The unevenness will therefore be less evident, with obvious benefits also in braking thanks to thegreater grip.

There are 20 total turns, 12 left and 8 right. The most challenging is turn 12!

Each lap the MotoGP ridersuse the brakes 10 times, the same number as at the Portimao circuit, which is, however, almost a kilometer shorter. At the Circuit of the Americas thebrakes are on for 37 seconds every lap. Only Silverstone and Sepang with 38 seconds and Losail with 40 seconds boast a higher value.

The track alternates between high speeds and slow corners. Brake usage times also vary considerably, with values ranging from 1.5 to 6.8 seconds. From the start to the checkered flag each driver exerts a load on the lever of almost 10 quintals.

Of the10 braking sections of the Circuit of the Americas,3 are classified as demandingon the brakes, the same number are of medium difficulty, while the remaining 4 have a slight impact on the braking systems. The hardest of all isat turn 12. The 323 meters of braking entail a load of 5.6 kg on the lever and a deceleration of 1.5 g while the pressure of the Brembo HTC 64T brake fluid reaches 12.1 bar!

๐ŸŽ™Tony:

"Argentina was another very positive race for us, there we could see that we are still missing those last two crucial tenths to be right in the podium battle. The good thing is that we were there fighting very close to the top guys and once again we could know our potential and where we can improve in the future. Now we go to Austin and that's a track I really like. It's fast and technical, and my goal will be to duel at the front. I had one of my best races of last season in Austin, so we arrive with the positive mindset that this can be another really strong weekend for me and the team."
